There is a "weather station" attached to the dyno computer that measures temperature, humidity and ambient pressure. There is also an Intake Air Temperature probe that is used. The value of the correction is solely determined by the weather station and the temperature probe.

The correction values change between the different cars because the ambient conditions changed between the days that the data was collected. The barometric pressure has a significant effect on the correction numbers and Calgary has a significant range in barometric pressure, especially when a Chinook hits in the winter.

Weather correction is a somewhat touchy topic for dyno results because the equations were originally developed for Normally Aspirated engines to account for the lower amount of air ingested at higher elevation or higher air temperature. With forced induction and active manifold pressure control, it is possible for certain setups to maintain the same manifold pressure at Calgary elevation (3500') and at sea level so the amount of air ingested is not accurately predicted by the equations.

I chose to turn on the corrections because the Dyno Dynamics read lower than anything else that I have seen. With the corrections applied, the results are close to what I would get, using a "road dyno" calculator that I have been using before buying the dyno. Being able to account for changing air temperature is also a plus.

    Hope that helps a little.

ya im never really a fan of corrections simply because they are never accurate.
i'd rather have a watch that is always 10 minutes behind, than one thats a little behind, a little ahead. Just like i'd prefer a dyno that reads low over one thats correcting for variables that may or may not be affecting the results.
Every dyno is going to read differently, just like every scale you step on will tell you you weigh something different. It's the nature of it, and its why you cant compare C1's dyno, to CAW's dyno to one in Michigan, or one in Vancouver. They will NEVER read the same.

    just my thought.

I'm interested to come see you in a few weeks though.

Thats why both dynos sheets are available... corrected and uncorrected.

      However, that being said...
Corrections will provide a better comparison of data between two different days on the same dyno. (To make up for temperature, barometric pressure etc)

Without them comparing the results from different days is almost as useless as comparing results from different dynos. (As long as the same calculations are used you are better off comparing the corrected values of two different days on the same dyno.)

I only got the corrected graph but would love to have both. The AFR graph would be really helpful too. Sonny will you email them to me?

        EDIT: Thanks Sunny!

I can't wait for sunny to dyno my car with corrected values, then tighten my radiator cap, dyno again with uncorrected values and tell me i made 1000 horsepowerz

Finally put our 2009 335i on the dyno. Automatic transmission (4th gear) and 91 octane.

Airboy, do you have any 135/335's with tunes? Would love to see some Juicebox / Procede / Cobb results.

No, not yet. Would love to have someone come in to do some pulls with the different tunes. I might be able to get some stage1 tunes on our 335i but the wife drives the car daily so availability is an issue.
