BMW has released new information about the 1-Series M Coupe.

First and foremost, the company has confirmed power will be provided by a bi-turbo 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with approximately 340 hp (254 kW / 345 PS). It will be mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission, so flappy-paddle fans need not apply.

The car will weigh around 1500 kg (3,307 lbs) and feature a chassis, braking system and rear differential similar to the M3. These tweaks will enable the M Coupe to be ten seconds faster around the Nordschleife than the previous M3 (E46).

According to Albert Biermann, Head of Development at BMW M GmbH, "The 1-Series M Coupe is completely in the tradition of the first BMW M3. It is compact, focused on the essential, and presents outstanding driving dynamics. In addition, it opens the door to BMW M - in particular its price will also make it more accessible than our other products."

The 1-Series M Coupe will be unveiled in December, before it debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Sales are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2011 and pricing will be "between the 135i Coupe and the M3 Coupe, with a clear tendency towards the 135i."

Yep. Word on the street is that the N55 was too hard to tune in the time required to get the car to market.

Your car may have worked out so far, but the N54 has had some issues in regards to high pressure fuel pumps and now it's direct injection system is starting to show carbon buildup like Audi's FSI.

Says the guy with a B5 S4...LOL.

I was not aware of the carbon issue, HPFP yes, but for me nothing

My car is still pulling very hard...

M1 is going to be a great looking car!

My 135i has been rock solid! With Juice Box Stage 3 / DCI / BMW PE its almost hard to control when I fully step on it. No issues as of yet.

n54 and n55's have issues with their HPFP's that needs to be fixed, but seems like every FI car has issues with something. 1.8T's and their good ol' coilpacks Lets hope BMW can get a fix pronto ^_^ I was on crowchild when my coilpacks went, scary. LOL.

I was looking around for different cars to get after my 2003 Jetta and for the price/performance/style, 135i was hard to pass up. If the M1 comes in around $60k, looks like my 135i will be up for sale

looks great from the front but something bugs me about that rear wheel arch, looks oddly out of place, too low?

lol im sure it wont stop it from being a great car, look forward to seeing some around town coz i sure wont be driving one :(

JB3 with G4 board + Downpipe + intake WOW burgertuning is definitely making strides ^_^ N54 has some insane tuning potential.

that thing sounds mean, and from the looks of the speedo, is fast as hell!
