Re: someone needs to jump on this cause i cant!

    has belt and chains

timing belt jobby runs like 1200-1500

my s4 from tunedub ran 1500ish and i had a ton of stuff replaced and fluids changed too

while your in there its just best to replace whatever you can while the front end is in service mode
so cam seals/gaskets, accessories belt/tensioner.. lightweight pulleys if you wanted, snub mount
    intercoolers lol

"belt and chains" means a hybrid?

Then 4.2 has the chains ( 5 pcs) on the back?

The TB replacement on the 2.7T AR would be the same as your A6, Dobby. The cost would be the same as when I did your A6.

The 2.7T has the timing belt on the front of the motor. The cam chains are common to most engines that have DOHC cylinder heads.

mistachio intercoolers or whatever it was MisterT put in his VW, are apparently super awesome.

                      Followup:
AR with 4.2l (BAS) has timing chains (2) on the back of the engine.
The engine is 2" shorter than TB 4.2

I need a winter car, don't know anything about all roads. Does this really look like that good a deal?

Re: someone needs to jump on this cause i cant!

Whose the other guy seriously considering this car? Is he on here? If so, get lost. haha, jk.

Apparently someone has requested the owner to get an inspection done (getting done right now) and will be checking out the car in person (i'm assuming he doesn't live in calgary) mid saturday afternoon.

Pending a bit more information from the owner on options (he's in Toronto right now and has to physically check what his car has and doesn't have), and I guess pending the results of this inspection, I was planning on heading to calgary tomorrow around noon, to get me into town early evening. Possibly a little too late. Problem is I won't know till i'm just about arriving in Calgary. FML.

Depending on the inspection/options, if it turns out to be what I want to hear, is anyone willing to check out the car for me tonight or tomorrow morning? If it's legit, I may be forced to buy it site-unseen and transfer the money to him.

The car sounds decent. Not "Fully loaded" like he claims, but it's got relatively low miles, and some major service work has been done to it. There are better deals out there, but i'm willing to pay a premium for the 6speed, and for as few km as I can find. It won't be the end of the world if I don't get this car, as I can always continue on looking for something even better, but that probably won't happen for a while, esp. for a 6MT allroad somewhat close to me.

                                ****! It's sold.

Apparently as soon as the other 'serious' guy got the inspection results back he bought it immediately. :(

                                Oh well. The hunt begins!
