Any chance someone would have an extra tranny laying around... my 1-2 shifts are getting a little notchy. My best bet may be a TDi 01E from Advanced Automation for $1400.. considering a rebuild is $900 in parts plus labour. Really wish I did a full rebuild last year when the tranny was 1/4 apart... grrr.
Well the MPH is there for a low 13, but the 60ft times are whats killing me. Being able to launch at anything more the 1000rpms and get that time from 2.03 to something respectable like a 1.7-1.8 second and that brings me down to around a 13.1-13.2 time in the back end. So hells yeah. However next summer I hope to have some turbos, exhaust, fueling and a clutch so the comparison wont be nearly the same. Its really going to depend on how the rally season works out for us. With some new safety equipment needed (including my helmet, fire suit, and harnesss) money might be a bit on the tight side to do everything I want.
Also there is a full 6 speed on Audizine for $1000 right now, and one on the Vortex for $800.
Good luck. I'd rebuild it with the upgraded parts for first and second.

In a perfect world a rebuild makes sense, except I dont have the time to do it myself and my car is a DD. (So I would have to have a shop do it.) Thats 900usd for the rebuild parts, then likely at least another 2500 in labor.
The 01E TDi has longer gearing and a flexible mainshaft which makes it more durable then the 01E in our cars, sp a good upgrade.
Unfortunately the $1400 sale is over.. they are now back up to ~$2300 plus shipping.
Well after hurting the clutch pretty badly this summer and then taking it to the dragstrip I finally bit the bullet and ordered a replacement setup. JHM b7 RS4 setup, with the stage 4 clutch disc. Should be plenty enough to handle the power levels I want to make. I also ordered 034 engine mounts, and a full timing belt, valve cover replacement stuff. Looking into some frankenturbos currently also.

Cool, good choice on the FT's, I just upgraded my F4H's with the F21's while I was swapping the clutch. Kevlar clutch material doesn't seem to hold up to my driving style, hopefully it will for you.
I installed a Spec stage 5, I didn't even put 1km on it before I decided to swap it for a 3+, couldn't be happier, just finished the first 500miles, now it's time to see how it holds up to some launching
