Re: APR B7 RS4 supercharger kit

Go on all you want about the four bangers, and don't get me wrong they are nifty as hell, but at the end of the day what matters is power under the curve. If what you want is to go fast all the time, B5S4 FTMFW.

The v8 is nice too. Smooth, strong and reliable. Plus that sound!! Just wish there were more options available than a few overpriced blowers.

Put your money where your mouth is! Take your stock wagon and lets see a 12.8 timeslip. I'd say damn near impossible... especially in Alberta.

I'll give you my painful 2.7T if you can....

Although expensive, the APR supercharger puts the car in a league of it own.. previously only held by the B5 S4. (And potentially the B8S4 with a blower upgrade)

oh i agree mark.. that SC would be just insane to have in there and drive..

i do love apr for thier quality and reliability which is why i buy thier products.

i've been talking to Erik about the b8 s4 stasis upgrades coming and they sound NUTS!!!!!! just a chip alone but then a SC'er upgrade with new belts/pulleys putting them into insane power!

            Different strokes for different folks

The 4.2 is a great motor, but it's not dollar-efficient if you're looking for 500hp+

Also, it's kind of a moot point talking about a car's value in this case. Once you start pouring money into upgrading a car, you better darn well be doing it for you own pleasure, and realize that you won't see that money back.

We're talking about Audis. There are no bad choices, it's just a matter of how much money you want to spend, and what you want to do with the car.

The C5RS6 is certainly a beast but too bloated to be truly sporting. Not to mention their reduced TB service interval and magnetic dampers that fail across the board.

X2 with Jordans point about resale. Modding is for pleasure not resale.

And I too would like to see this 12.8 timeslip from anywhere in AB with a stock B7S4 Avant. On pump.

You want to talk about money? Owning that car may just force you to take out a second mortgage on your house...

im all for the 2.7TT but the nutswinging in here is getting a bit nuts.

I dont know why people are scoffing at a bolt on $19,000 kit that makes 550hp.
Add up your receipts for your stage 3 s4's being honest about all of the parts you are upgrading and replacing and you're gonna be in the $15,000+ price range.

If you want to take into account all the money you've spent on the car and every receipt, then you've gotta take into account the purchase price of the car, too. Yeah, you may have spent $15k to get the car in the condition of the newer 4.2, with the same 550hp that the $19k 4.2 kit is claiming, but you paid $20k less for the B5 in the first place.

"You spend your money and you makes your choices". If I was going to spend $19k on adding power to a 4.2, I would figure out a way to turbocharge the bugger.

seriously do you read before you post, or do you just post to try and have the last say?

you properly build a stage3+ b5 s4, and regardless of what you paid for the original car, you're going to be into the 15k territory when you add up all the required parts. i should know...i've got the spreadsheet outlining my budget plans, and thats using every deal i can get.

the 2.7TT puts out great numbers and responds well to mods, but any of us that own them are DREAMING if we even think they are inexpensive to mod or run.

$19k for a bolt on kit, for an engine that doesn't need to be pulled out, to be putting down those kinds of numbers in factory trim is not bad at all. And sure you could go put twin turbos on it and the whole 9 yards....but its gonna cost you more than $19k, and is gonna be a hell of a lot more work.

im betting that can be done in less than a weekend, and thats drive in to drive out. with factory reliability.

LOL. Good one. I'm not even going to waste my time addressing this post. All I'm going to say is that if I'm going to spend $19k on ONE power mod for the 4.2, it's not going to be a blower.
