  • New to the forum, looking for some guru advice/information

    Hello all,

As some of you may know there is a S3 S4 on kijiji

    http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ209779872

I am seriously considering buying this car as I have wanted a B5 S4 for years now. What I am looking to know is, what would the cost roughly be to make the car tip top shape and is there someone who could, would want to do all the fixes...

    Thanks in advance,

    Warren

you never know with a car like this, it has been for sale for over 8 months if not more so there must be something wrong with it. i would take it to the best mechanic you can find and get them to check everything top to bottom because i am sure there is more than 1 problem with the car. there is a nice nogaro for sale with only around 100k on it that looks minty and stock that i would look at before going with this one.

as for fixing this, if it is egt sensors you loking around 5-600, maybe more, also about 2 grand atleast for exhaust/dp's
whos knows what else is wrong with it

LOL, that car belongs to a guy on the forums here by the username of morris400. We've done a little work on that car, and I know that the owner has recently replaced the pass. side EGT sensor, coolant temp sensor, diverter valves, and he's doing piggie pipes right now.

We are more than happy to diagnose any maintenance issues that the car may have, as well as do the work, should you purchase it. We specialize in the 2.7T platform, be it C5 A6 or B5 S4, so we can help you out with anything you may need.

yea KMs are high depending on how it was treated

right now you'd be HARD pressed to find most b5s with under 150 on them

mine just hit 130 the other day and ill put maybe 7000km on it this year if that

although jordans old one had like 260k on it and it drove great..

all depends on the oil changes and maintenance i'd say

really for the 10k the car costs.. you can buy a brand new 2.7T engine now for like 5-6k so you could just do that hahahaha

You can always find a car with low kms if you're willing to shop and wait.

The price for a car with K04's is spot on for the work required
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

I have two thoughts about this:

                      1. While there are a few cars out there with really low km's, you'll almost certainly have to pay a premium for it, and you probably won't find a car like that for $10k.

                      2. I've seen cars with 80k km's in worse condition than my old car was with 275k km's. Mileage is not important. Maintenance and upkeep is what really counts.

saw this one today, not to shabby for low km's, but knowing that the min you buy it the turbos need changed sucks i guess.
