Re: Stay out of the fast lane
i was going to say.. did you merge like a jackass trying to pull to 180? if so then i would have fingered you to..
if you were just getting up to 110-120ish and he pulled out doing 95 then your in the right..

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
I do highway almost every day and I see a lot of people pull out in to the left lane on purpose if they see someone coming up fast. Example, if right lane is doing 100-110 and they see someone come up doing 120-130 they'll pull out and block the flow. I guess they feel they are self policing.
Personally I've seen people on the highway that I think are going a little fast for the volume but I can't understand why you wouldn't just want to let them by instead of blocking them and having them 2 feet off your bumper to try to prove some point? I'm happy to let them by, they can ride someone elses bumper or keep the cops up ahead busy if they want.Jay

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
I usually hang out in the left lane beacause....
1. I dont own a fast car anymore, they are both 8v's
2. Im trying to keep my driving abstract clean for the popo so I rarely speed more than 5-7 over anymore.
But what gets me is some people dont use the right as the fast lane, I have had tones of people ride my bumper and then pull out really quick in what I call the "douche overtake""If it has tits or wheels it will give you trouble"

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
"Douche Overtake" should really be renamed. When I hear that, I think about when i'm overtaking the douche who's driving too f*cking slow on the left lane! Hence "douche overtake"
Call it a "retarded overtake", then i'll understand what you meanPatryk

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
I'm guilty.. Of driving to fast sometimes.
I employ the "douche over take", passing in the right lane.. ONLY when the person holding up the 'fast' lane seems completley ignorant to the fact that there is a growing line of traffic behind them, waiting to get over 105km/h.
I Pass people on the right, and finger them when I get beside them. Everyone moves to the 'slow lane' after a 'douche over take'. Gets the fucking point across.

this means, if there is traffic coming up behind you, faster than u are travelling, you move to the right, so that they can pass you. Slower (than me) traffic, keep right.! Simple it works to everyones advantage if anyone knew how to drive.Last edited by floater; 06-18-2010, 10:50 AM.

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
One key thing I learned it drivers ed, there is no such thing as a fast lane, it's a courtesy lane.
No wonder people are idiots when they teach crap like that in drivers Ed.

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
"keep right except to pass"
"slower traffic keep right"
these basic phrases are LOST on 90% of drivers in Alberta.
if you're in the left lane holding-up traffic / too stupid to notice, i will definitely pass you on the right.
check your mirrors or turn your fuuckin head before randomly merging / moving into other lanes of traffic.

Re: Stay out of the fast lane
I remember coming back from Fernie with the wife last winter and we're driving behind some cop on the #3. Well an overtake lanes come up with the usual sign stating "stay right except to pass", so anyways this cop goes into the right lane and slows right down obviously for me to pass so he can run my plates or whatever, so I passed him (not speeding)and after passing I get back in the right lane and sure enough his lights come on. Cop pulls us over for no reason as usual, checks over our licences then tells me instead of getting back into the right lane after overtaking I should have just stayed in the left lane, then walks away.
