  • S4 intake

I took off the intake manifold off my s4 engine but it doesn't look like a b5 s4 intake. Could this be a rs4 intake?

    Re: S4 intake

There's an early-style IM and a late-style IM. They switched in '01. Is that off of my old car?

          Re: S4 intake

That is most definitely a late style intake, you can clearly see all of the runners, the early style was more squared off
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

            Re: S4 intake

Another way to tell the difference is by the vacuum ports on the back of the IM. The early-style had only 1 large port for the brake booster, as well as a few of the small, 1/4" nipples. The late-style has only 1 nipple in that location (the others were moved to other spots) and 2 large ports.

              Re: S4 intake

its was the top of the intake that confused me
the early style had more of the box look on top

Yessir. Pushing the TB replacement beyond 100k km's is just imprudent, IMO.

                      they are called interference engines
because piston and valve paths may "interfere" with one
                      haha

2 minutes for interference right there.
