  • time for a chip... what and where.

So im going to be getting my s4 chipped in the next week. Just wondering what to go with. Will be getting it chipped in edmonton, either thinking giac or unitronics. Giac scares me because of the high boost peak. But unitronics seems kinda week. What shops offer what products in edmonton?

Also how long should my stock dv's hold before they start leaking and my TB boot?

The only other tunning that I know of in edmonton, is Norden for Revo and Autobahn Performance for APR.

        I'd look at the post

i know better than to ask the newb questions being it has been beaten to death 1000 billion times, just was unsure of what shops offered what chips.

Go with whatever shop you are most comfortable with..... chances are you wont notice a differrence between them.
One thing I do like with APR is switching the programs via curise controller.. no external hassles. (Im currently on GIAC with the flashloader.. its easy.. but not as easy as APR)

It doesnt. You can only switch programs when the car is off...(key-one click on)

The last S that I had I went to autobran and got it done there. It was a Giac and never had any problems with it.

you had higher milage to didn't you. I just like the fact that apr has different settings. I know eurasia does giac flash as well. Im debating the go hard or go home, or is it gonna be go hard end up blown...

Do you have different gas programs with Unitronic? (I dont know much about them)

Makes all the difference in the world going from 91-93-104. Scary difference. (Scary that you will want to run race gas 24/7)

Re: time for a chip... what and where.

Unitronic has a great rep with the dub crowd and for the last 2.5 years my experience with them on an A4 1.8T has been nothing but smooth, solid and reliable power.

FTR, they offer single profile tunes.

Considering our region's lack of true 94 octane (don't get into the E-10 blend bs) I tend to disregard or doubt the need for the "convenience" of switching programs. IF I were to drop some coin on a barrel of VP109 or Elf105 I'd do some tweaking with UniSettings and try to squeeze out more power. For the record, my car pulls harder and goes -- WAY -- farther on a tank of Chevron 94 with Techron from BC, and that's even with just the car's ECU adapting itself. For example, around the prairies I'll get about 750km-850km on a tank of strict highway and it's nothing to get 1050km when I'm in the mountains of southern BC's interior. So I'd infer the ECU adapts to the octane on its own just fine.
