    Life is dandy sometimes.

My Dad finished mudding, taping and paiting (not to mention cleaning) the garage just in time to go away to work two weeks in and one out.

Like greased goose sh!t the Coupe goes into the garage onto stands. Wheels are off and now I'm getting a good look at the shape of the car underneath for the first time since buying it a year and a half ago.

Worn belts, a dirty leak somewhere on the far drivers side up front, stained rear differential, worn belts and corroded bolts on the suspension everywhere up front. Good times!!!

Here's the laundry list so far:

    ** front strut mounts
    ** motor mounts
** diff or tranny mounts (the dual purpose 034 ones)
    ** power steering pump
    ** belts
    ** antenna
    ** window regulators
** s/s brake lines, new pads and rotors, sandblast and paint calipers and dust shields black
** sandblast and paint control arms, new bushings
    ** full fluids swap
    ** recharge A/C
    ** thorough engine bay cleaning

I'm thinking about sandblasting or polishing the intake manifold... is it worth the hassle? I see it needs a bolt replaced, one's shorn itself off so I should probably redo the gasket anyways?

Also, what's the most direct way to disassemble the strut and brakes so I can take them apart and get the control arms and brakes apart for sandblasting?

So confused Maybe before asking how to take stuff apart, it might be a good idea to tell us what year and model it is. Not to mention your sentences make no sense whatsoever.

And what kind of analogy is this.....

        Nice, thanks.

Yes guys it's the Coupe... like it says in the OP.

Basically my first question is how do I remove the struts and control arms and brakes all together? OR should I do the brakes then control arms and then struts one at a time?

I'm doing this because the front strut mounts are worn and while I'm in there might as well sandblast/paint the brake calipers and dust shields and the control arms.

i would take it apart piece by piece.. so caliper, rotor. lines.. then start removing control arms and suspension bits..

x2. Especially if your sandblasting and painting. Makes it way easier and cleaner to do part by part instaed of doing the whole assembly.

Yeah, I was getting at the difference between removing the entire assembly at once and breaking it apart on a bench or piecemeal while still on the car. The booth I'll be using only fits smallish parts so I'll be taking the calipers and dust shields, and control arms for now.

                Sure was.

The car's been solid since I got it from him, and I've put 40,000 hard km on the car to see what would go wrong. BASICALLY -- keep in mind this car is 21 years old -- nothing... the HIDs and battery were replaced and I did the front struts, new rubber and oil changes with new plugs at 10k km. Still has most of the deferred maintenance from before but now I have shop time, so to speak.
