I'm looking at boring out the S4 block. Anyone know of a good shop that would be able to do the job?

Re: Cylinder boring
boring out for higher displacement?
don't.
instead, have your engine bored for new pistons & rods that can support more energy and heat. (i.e. je pistons and eagle rod combination)
don't bore for displacement, ever.

Re: Cylinder boring
Boring out to 2.8 works quite well on these motors...Jordan

i know you might be able to convince cam @ www.lightspeedinnovations.com to work with the s4.. maybe, not sure how he'd feel about that.
the real trouble with working on these cars, is that the ones that wanna work on it are incompitent. :(
if you could get in with das autohaus (chris meyers) or lightspeed (cam), then i'd go with one of those. anyone else, i don't have much experience.
lightspeed builds a lot of very very high horsepower engines, as they're a performance facility. it's worth visiting both chris and cam at their locations because they each would be VERY valueable resources.
if you're going to change engine dynamics (compression, flow, discplacement, etc). then i would quite honestly suggest a standalone (i.e. vipec) and at the least, have it tuned by cam @ lightspeed on the AWD dyno. you could go e-mail tune routes... but some unbiased research will steer you away from it.

my honest suggestion would be to not worry about bore for displacement because the power is minimal relative to integrity.
i'd bore merely to fit custom pistons. i'd drop the compression by a few points, maybe flatten down to 9.0:1... then i'd throw a few high flow turbines on there. if the engine is out, and you hire lightspeed then a modified/custom manifold for two gt25r-400 series turbo's would be unreal.
or, if you're craving a monster then go two gt30r's... but then i'm concerned with drivability.
did you want to come up to LS on a friday and see what it's all about? check out the engine room and the facility? plus, it's just fun to chill with good people who have a lot of real life experience with failed build attempts. much easier then sitting behind the keyboard

i can help. but if you're convinced with your route then let me know and i'll let you carry on and stop msging you.

Re: Cylinder boring
have you considered honing the bore and clearancing for the 3.0 crank, that way you could be at almost 3.0l but you wouldn't have to take any meat off the wallsI may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

Re: Cylinder boring
Also if you need a 3.0l crank, and you are serious let me know, I can definitely get you one, worst case scenario, I have one in my basement that I was going to useI may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you
