So Ryan got a 5 gallon drum of VP M-5 racing fuel which he was planning on adding it to his water/meth injection to see what it would do. I came over to grab a gallon to try it myself. Problem is, despite the fact that it's 99% methanol, we found out it would not mix with water.
Faced with this conundrum, we thought "hmm what could we do with this stuff?" . My answer was "hell I've got a 1/3 of a tank left, let's add a gallon of M-5 and see what happens. The answer was "holy fuc*ing sh*t was my car faster". Yes, Black Betty has a new Meth habit.
Between the water/meth and the M-5 I could not get my car to pull any timing no matter how hard I tried. I have a vid of a 3rd gear pull from 3000 to redline at 21 PSI (I'll try and get it posted tomorrow) and I couldn't pull so much as one degree of timing from all four cylinders.
This stuff is weird though, unlike Methanol it won't flash when applied to a surface. It also smells sweet. Not quite like race gas, but similar. It must also be heavily oxygenated because my ECU added 7% to my fuel trims and my wideband read about 0.5 higher.
The only downside is that a) it's probably not to kind to your fuel system and b) you have to run your tank to fumes and then fill it full to flush the M-5 out. Other than that though, it may as well have been race gas. Only this stuff only cost me $20 for 1/3 of a tank worth.
