I guess if I was spending that kinda of cash, (basically brand new prices) I would rather do it from scratch, and know every piece of the car and how it was treated and built. For all we know it was pieced together in his back yard!

I've emailed the seller for additional information.... Not that I need to move onto a third silver S4...

i still don't see the problem. if you bought a 20,000 s4, and wanted those things done to it... that's what you'd expect if you paid someone else to do it.

it would easily cost 20k to have a motor removed, bored, new forged internals, brand new turbos, headers, downpipes, exhaust, tuning (probably a standalone), clutch and flywheel, etc, etc, etc

plus it's only got 75,000 km! and the body is most likely amazing shape, better then any that we hvae floating around if it has only 75k on it. then i'm sure the brakes and wheels are good.

20k isn't hard to spend when modding a car. ask that guy on here with the tial turbos how much he has spent on the tial work alone

I am with DJ on this one it does not take long at all to spen 20k on modding a car(Trust Me I Know).. It all depends what has been done to it and what the car has for supporting mods. I guy needs to know if it has a big break kit,coil overs and all the supporting suspension mods as well.This person could easly have 50k into the car.

As for the car it self if it was bone stock the guy could get 20k for it no problem. My car has about the same amount of km on it and if it WERE stock I would be asking about 20 for it.. But I will land up being barried in that thing.

I completely see where you guys are coming from. A couple of years ago, when a Stage 3 K04 S4 was the old GT25 S4, I had invested at least $40k into the car, including the initial price of the car, but not including any labour. Car and parts only. If you also considered labour cost (which I did myself, so I didn't have to pay any cash, only my time, which does have a dollar value), I would have had to spend at least $50-60k to get the car to where it was. My car and one other like it were both listed at $40k. Neither car sold for several months. I ended up letting mine go for $20k, and the other similar car was sold to R-Audi (Mark) for somewhere in the $20k's, I think.

Exactly....you can NEVER get out what you put in with modifications... as a general rule I would use 40-50% at best.
My last S4 had roughly $15k worth of receipts, and I maybe got 3-4k over the price of a stock one! This isnt a money making gig, its an expensive hobby!

Now my biggest question would be exactly what parts are into this car... if its not done 100% right, its a ticking time bomb. You see way too many cars with upgraded turbos not running the proper supporting mods or software.

CAW has a BUILT 3.0L for sale for around 7k...

If it's the Eurospec one out front, the price tag on it is still 10K IIRC.

Price tag is 10k, last time I was in there they said they wanted to move it, and wanted 7k.
