  • Smudgy window question

On sunny days all of my windows have a sort of smudgy appearance. Like a checkerboard of finger prints. Do Audis have a factory tint that could be bad or is it the glass. I have seen this on other cars but not as much as mine. Am i crazy.

    Thanks

Are you looking at them with you sunglasses on? Polarized lenses? I'm guessing that you are seeing a stress pattern in the glass.

That is exactly what it is, experienced many times.

Thank you very much for your time. It is there with or without glasses. At least its not on the windshield.

If you don't see the pattern without polarized glasses then it's something else. You'll only see the lamination pattern with polarized glasses.

I don't know what you're seeing. Did you try cleaning your windows with a really good glass cleaner and see if that helps? There can be some offgassing residue still on the glass that really tough to remove. Bon-Ami is usually really good at cleaning glass without scratching it.

          Good luck.

^No! That means your glasses are good!

Try regular glasses vs. polarized glasses on a sunny day when the roads are wet and you'll never be able to go back to regular again!
