Egt code passanger or driver side?

Hey guys finally bought a vag com cable running shareware. Did a scan on my 02 a6 2.7t. Came up with 1 fault found
17866- exhaust gas temp sensor 2 (G236) Short to ground
P1458 - 35-10- - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000. Just wondering what side number 2 is on..drivers or passenger?

Thanks guys. Im sure installing these in a pair would not hurt anyways. Just out of curiosity how do the egt's even control engine function via boost etc?. I was just playin with the vagcom looking at all the measuring blocks. The egt's temp readings were both the same at idle but under load only one increased while the other had no change. Also the requested boost and actual boost levels were par as told by the measuring blocks. Is this reading at all reliable as my car has almost no boost?(limp mode egt sensor failure I assume) but all readings were taken while car was at standstill.

EGT's measure the exhaust gas. The ECU will richen the fuel mixture if the temp's get too high, and even throw the car into soft limp mode if they were to go ridiculously high. A dead sensor will cause the car to go into soft limp mode and the ECU will randomly add fuel under load due to the erratic EGT signal. Requested vs. actual boost should be measured under load, preferably a 3rd gear log.
