    i put a set of 14851 magnaflow mufflers on my 02 a4 3.0.
they have been on about a year 15000k in the last few months they seem to have got quite a drone to them.
above 3000 they sound the same as always just at lower revs its a really deep boom to them
any ideas on what can cause this

I'd say it just carbon build up from that last year of driving.
Most exhaust system will get a deeper tone after they have been in the car for a while

Check both mufflers and see if they are still intact. I just had to replace one of the mufflers on my 2.8 a4 because of the same droning and found one of the mufflers had literally been eaten away by corrosion. These were about 1.5 years old but with how bad it was i wouldnt have guessed. These were also magnaflow, though i've never had problems with the brand in the past.
