  • CTS and Kinetic, horrible service

Since I was posting my impressions about Raxles, I thought I might also relay my experiences with CTS and Kinetic. This is a link to my thread on Passatworld regarding the early demise of my K04-015 which was purchased from Clay at CTS turbo. It also includes my experiences with Shawn at Kinetic/PDR diesel http://www.passatworld.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=283652 I suggest you all read it from start to finish. However, post #47 is the most damning in my opinion.

As a new member here I've been hesitant to post it as there are some CTS vendors here and I didn't want to seem like I was out to smear CTS. However, I realized that Clay is a big boy and he made his decisions knowing full well that they would be represented on the forums.

I would like to point out that the emails posted here have not been edited or altered. Also, I would like to think that Clay also has satisfied customers as well. Perhaps this was just an anomaly. I'll let you all be the judge of that.

Nope, genuine borg warner. Long story short, it lasted just under 10,000km. According to John at Alamo Industries what killed it was an overthrust condition as a result of excessive vacuum conditions in the inlet port. In other words it couldn't flow enough air fast enough. I think the 3400-4400 ft that it was driven at probably exacerbated the problem.

Actually, I found a middle ground. I sent my K04 turbine housing to G-popshop and they basically bored it out and put the biggest K04 CHRA and compressor section/housing that they could (hint, they're not entirely Borg Warner parts) The comp wheel is rated at 32lb/min and the turbine was clipped 10.5 deg to free up some flow in that tiny K04-015 housing. From everything I've managed to gather over the last 6 months it's very similar to a GT2560 (GT28r). In fact, I'm actually running it on an Upsolute GT28r file.
