so your mechanic said the egts have nothing to do with hard acceleration drive ability ? he would be wrong all the 2.7 guys have told me egt is the mostlikely cause of the problem . they can read normal at idle but not under load . the fact you had a code for them tells me to replace them

Did you mean to write that the codes were for EGR temp or EGT's?

        Re: 2.7t problem .... surprise

code was for egr temp circuit #P1602,1460,1461.He said all the codes were rooted from the same problem, something about having the key on while unplugging the sensor could have apparently tripped it?Called cam from cws tuning here in regina and he stressed they dont know what there talking about lol, as well he ran his s4 with the airbox removed for two years and never had any circuit overheat problems. He is confident its still most likely the egt's.Also told me to check the dv's as they could not be holding boost, one of em looks like its been done in the last year, while the other looks original from 2002.Seen some stuff online about doing a home boost leak test with a air compressor but other than that no one can do one here. How much for the egt's jerbil?

I also fitted a kn filter. when I relocated the transistors, I put them on the metal plate (heat sink) and mounted on the wheel well.

I am prety sure that heat on them isn't the problem as mine are cool and have a similar bucking. its not consistent, happens on occasion and usually only in cool weather.

I watch measure blocks 15 and 16 for misfiress, im getting them on cyl 2. I have been out of town since that scan, when I get back I will replace the coil....

if replacing the coil doesn't solve it, then im guessing the maf may not be reading right due to the kn airflow change. I might have to put a longer pipe between the filter and maf.

to diagnose that, log your maf voltage on a run.

BTW, those codes you were getting are your EGT sensors.

Thanks for the info guys.Sounds like my intake is fine the way its run, so i wont worry about the air box but i wouldnt mind putten sensors back on the heat sink.Anyone wanna give up just the heat sink? Also i got 6 ignition coils up for grabs off my 02 A6 to fit your 2.7t's.All are original audi and are fuctioning 100%.Put new ones in now have a extra set.thanks again.

i also bought a wideband . when i'm back in calgary i'll install it.

i have experienced problems on my other cars in the past with incorrect maf readings. if the air misses the sensor a little at a specific speed, then the "tune" will be off. the tune does reference the o2 sensors for fuel trim corrections over time, but that doesn't bandaid "holes" in maf readings.

it'd be nice in a meeting someday for me to go over some tuning software for advanced standalones. calibrating a maf is time consuming but neat. you can literally rotate your maf 90 degrees and knock part of your tune out of whack due to messing up the calibration. that is why stock airbox pipes have grooves for the maf.

even my "home made intake" has a marking for the maf. so when i put it back together after cleaning or removing, it will be where it was. it may still be off so i'll datalog when i get home with the wideband.

                      la la la la la!

anyone have an laptop with "video out" on a coax that they want to sell for cheap?
