  • HELP! Power Steering Fluid for B6 S4

I was hearing some groaning the other day so I checked the level before I was about to head out and run some errands. It's not even up to the bottom of the dipstick.... eek.

Does anyone have any of the special mineral fluid or whatever the hell it is you have to use that I can buy off them or do you know where I can get some? No luck with PartSource or Napa.

    Thanks!

Service/Parts is closed after 1pm Saturdays. Apparently they don't have the keys to get in there when those guys are gone.

I'll try crappy tire though. Thanks!

Make sure you only use mineral oil.

lol its only 23$ at the dealership fucking expensive, i thought it was my ps making noise but it was my tie rods, replaced inners and outers flushed the fluid and its all good to go!

I got some at a Part Source once... but I had to ask them where it was.
Sounds like you could be starting a steering rack problem..... thats how I noticed mine. Fluid started going down ever so slowly..

Well as long as it rears it's ugly head by March when my warranty is up, I'm ok with it. Apparently steering rack work on the V8's is incredibly labor intensive.

I managed to do without my car for the weekend and bought a bottle today. I guess it used to be $45 a litre!!! I have quite a bit left if anyone else ever ends up stumbling on this and needs some.

did you work the wheel a bit to add it all in? you might need more once it's filled all the lines. double check that.

I did not. Thanks a lot! I'll check it tonight.

yeah, my old explorer took a fair amount fluid in it. literally had to turn the wheels back and forth for about 10 minutes, while pumping in the new fluid. but that's a ford.
