Yep, what I usually do is buy the washer fluid and then go to Greggs distributors and buy a 4x1 gallon case (about $6 per gallon) of methanol and add it to the fluid.

Even just straight winter WWF makes a big difference as opposed to running nothing...

Re: What kind of ratios are you water/meth guys running?

Well, I decided to do some experimenting with 100% methanol. Although I didn't save some of the longer pulls, I did get a snapshot of a second gear pull. What blew me away is the advance under full boost. Consistent with my other pulls, it maintains 25deg advance under full boost (21 peak average 18-17). That's about the highest advance I've seen with this setup. Although it's probably a little pricey for everyday driving, I may have to play with it for a few days.

Here's the log: values are RPM, g/sec, timing BTDC (g/sec are rescaled for VR6 MAF)

I think I mentioned it in a post up above somewhere, but 100% meth FTW

Yeah, that's kind of what got me looking at some of the water/meth forums. The only problem is that my out of washer fluid light stays on. I presume that this is because of the lower specific gravity of methanol. Wat kind of timing do you see with 100% meth on your car?

Re: What kind of ratios are you water/meth guys running?

My light has worked properly when I've run 100% meth in the past. The timing advance depends on a lot of other variables, like boost. The higher the cylinder pressure and temperature, the more knock you'll get, so the more boost you run, the less timing you can add before getting knock, etc.

I guess I should rephrase that. How much timing have you seen at about 18 PSI (I know this doesn't take into account different turbo efficiency ranges) Ballpark figures are all I'm looking for.

                        That was with a 9.5:1 compression ratio, K04's at 19psi, 100%meth, 91/94oct fuel, 75deg F IAT's. Lemmi is good

Add 109 oct fuel and it's more like 45 degrees advance.

I ran nothing but windshield washer fluid for the year+ that I had a WMI car. Just try and get stuff that doesn't have detergents in it (like the no bug spray, or worse, the teflon stuff).

I bought mine by the cartload from Costco.

I got most of mine at the end of winter when superstore was blowing them out at $1.99 per Gallon

How much more power (% wise and actual number) did the extra 10deg net you?

I have no idea what kind of a difference in power the extra timing made, but I can tell you that adding 109oct fuel in addition to the extra timing advance took me from a 12.7 to a 12.2 in the 1/4 here in Calgary.
