Those AWE ones look very much like the OEM clusters.

            We'll see.

Won't be worrying about that until probably at least september. The chip is coming out wednesday, it looks like. So the extra boost pressure won't be there.

              Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

Big thanks to Graeme, the TB is done and totally works properly.

Haven't driven it much, but the increase in power and fluidity is quite noticeable. Ramps up past 5000 RPM's without giving any problems. Totally weird.

Anyways, it threw a couple codes, we'll dissect them tomorrow. Must go drinking.

              Graeme is showering, so..

As it turned out, the water pump/tb was done recently, I would guess at the scheduled interval. But the douchebag who installed it, skipped putting in new tensioners and a bunch of other things, and failed to scrape all of the gasket off of the water pump, which had a good sized leak in it.

We all vag-com scanned the car, and these two codes came up.

              17963
              18010

One looks like pressure limit exceeded. Probably a boost spike. The other looks like a kind of fake code, a battery removal code. Anyways, both were cleared. We'll scan it again tomorrow after a good run tonight. Good fun.

I have to say, it feels great to have accomplished this on my own. It was daunting, but once we were half way I realized how it's all just a process, and not really that bad.

              Now for the beer.

                Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

Things are running great. Now I just need to decide whether or not to keep the APR chip, or lose it and eventually switch to VAST.

Also need new diverter valves. And a boost gauge. September projects.

                  keep the APR IMO

                  boost gauge- awe a4 style

DVs.. i rock hyperboost.. APR if they get thier springs updated.. or oem 710ns if you don't mind replacing them again in a year or so

Yeah there seem to be a TON of options for the DV's. Kind of strange.

I'm tempted to keep the APR just because I don't have time to really dink with it, and I doubt I'll ever really.. tune the software. We'll see. Definitely need the boost gauge though.

                      Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

yea boost gauge is key.. for troubleshooting to keeping good mileage

as for DVs.. tons of options for sure.. being in van you should be able to get them locally no problem..

forge 007 are good but need to be serviced every 1-2 years
hyperboost are good.. same as forge for servicing
apr are service free but honk unless you have the new ones with updated springs
awe dv1s are service free but look like poop IMO

i like my apr chip because i'll never custom tune.. even when i go stage 3 on my s4 or AR.. i'll just use an off the shelf kit and i'm plenty happy with that

Just because you don't mind driving a car that's not tuned properly at this elevation, doesn't mean that that's the route for everybody

                            Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

it's a race car. i race soccer moms and volvos.

yeah. Graeme said he can barely hear my turbos. I'm reallllly tempted to pull them out just to see if that's because they've been replaced, much like the TB had actually been done.

Discovering that the TB had been done was a major relief. It means that the car has probably been cared for.

Despite your personal fixation on the AWE's Ryan, I may go for the prosport boost gauge. I like the nice colour.
