It's not actually that bad. I can get you an EGT sensor for a little more than half that price.

Erik confirmed much of the same.

If it comes to that, I'll replace it. For now, I'm going to assume it's some sort of leak.

Not necessarily. VAST can tune the car for the local environmental conditions, producing a semi-custom tune, and can also delete the EGT's and rear O2's, which will save lots of $$$ in the future when you don't have to replace sensors anymore. That's something that no other tuner does that I'm aware of.

          Aha! Bonus!

Plus, the air here is very humid. That can't be great for engine heat.

            Hey man,

I saw your post and wanted to answer you but, I didn't want to look like an anti-APR troll on the forums.

I bought an APR Stage 1 flash for my 2004 A6 a couple years ago and it was never running right from the day I bought it.

My car only had about 50K miles on it when it got flashed and the car 100% perfect before the flash. After that, it had a lot of odd boost behavior and the timing was all over the place. I took some logs and the timing went anywhere from 0 degrees BTDC to 9 degrees at most. The car actually felt slow in many cases due to the timing retard.

I ended up blowing a turbo shortly after that I just got my money back from them to start the swap to K04 turbos.
Got this message last night from an AZer, looks like I'm not the only one to have weirdness from the APR chip. Whether or not the chip just accentuated a problem that was already there, remains to be seen. Hopefully it doesn't explode my turbos anytime soon. Not in my budget to get those replaced right away.

well considering APR is the top tuner for VAG i find his agruments bogus

as mentioned above so many little issues can arise once chipped..

                Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

Anytime up you increase the boost on your car, what could start as a small leak.. can turn into a large leak in little time. I dont know how long you've had the chip in, but it also takes some time for everything to adapt. How has it been driving recently?

                  Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

                  That's the problem.

It goes in and out of good and bad days. Yesterday, no problems, was driving great, loved it. I was having a blast accelerating and passing people and really pushing the engine. Today, WOT and the gears slipped in 3rd and it wouldn't boost in 5th gear. I've had the chip for around 3 weeks now. It ran, for lack of a better word, chipper for 2 weeks, and then some straaange problems propped up after that. It died on the Burrard bridge in Vancouver 2 days after getting the chip installed, but it was a dead coil pack. Also replaced a brake sensor in the passenger side front wheel that was causing that wheel to lose power, thinking the brake was being applied. I was wondering why it pulled to the right.

The APR chip most likely has just accentuated the existing boost problem. Near as I can tell, the car was meticulously cared for and maintained up until 90 000 km's, but I can't trade the last 55 000 km's of service. God knows what happened between then and now. The timing belt has never been done. Had I known more about this stuff, I may have shopped around more. Life lesson. Oh well.

I'm looking forward to getting in there and trying to figure out the problem though.

                    Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

Actually, I put a new battery in recently as well, voltage was hanging below the midway mark, and the dealership I purchased it from originally agreed to replace before purchase, tried to take me for a ride and skipped it, I noticed. They rued they day they tried to pull the wool over my eyes. They also "forgot" to replace a CV boot that was spitting grease like nuts. Unfortunately I've had this audi in the shop having owned it for less than 2 months, than I did my ford that I owned for four years. :P

                      Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

i have a brand new battery in my AR and it sits below 14/15V most days i'd say 12ish on average which is ODD.. my S4 battery is 6 years old now and always is a solid 14V

AR must have more crap inside stealing my volts LOL

you SHOULD do your timing belt asap if your at 90+k now.. but by the readings seems like graeme will help you so your set then

ps.. on a off note i was on audi uk's site building up a new allroad.. 3.0T diesel 6spd with alcantara seats!!! WTF audi NA

Audi recommends replacing the TB at 120k km's, but I always like to do them at 100k just to be safe.

90k is nothing to worry too much about.

                              Re: Allroad Accleration Issues

I found the service history of the vehicle up to 90 000 km's, it's got almost 150 000 on it now. I can't trace the other 55 000 before i owned it.

So TB is my super high priority. Love to have something explode in the engine and cost me a serious chunk of change. Graeme "claims" he knows what to do, but the bentley manual is en route and i got the ECS supreme ultra super tb kit.

Should be a fun saturday. Second time in august that graeme will be taking apart an allroad, at least partially.

My battery now sits at 14V's solid all the time. never dips. but the battery that was in it before, was failing load test left right and center. Everything seems to run a little brighter now, but that could be because rainy season apparently has started earlier, in Vancouver.

Yeah, that's in dire need of a replacement.

Just make sure you do the couple of things I mentioned in my previous post regarding the TB replacement. It's not rocket science.
