Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?

I'm also curious on this one for the A4. Will this help if not cure the hesitation when turning on yellow? I'm sure other tip owners know what I'm talking about. Waiting at a light to turn left, light turns yellow, you stomp on the gas and after what seems like an eternity the car wakes up and goes.

Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?

If you want to sharpen up the throttle response in D and get rid of the automatic upshift/downshift in tip (the latter is only for DBW) just re-code the tip using VAG-COM. I did it and it worked extremely well. Shifting is more immediate, it'll hold to redline without having to put my foot to the floor etc... Here's the link and instructions http://www.passatworld.com/forums/sh...sport+recoding

OK so how about a tip chip and an engine chip... I need to get rid of that lag. Is this a drive by wire thing? I'm somewhat clueless as to the cause of this since it apparently doesn't exist in the MT I made the assumption that it was related to the transmission.

Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?

it is just the way the tanny engages in first, the lag is crappy. if it bugs you that much just brake boost a bit and you wont notice the lag.

Brake boost as in left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas?

not sure if any of this info is swaying me towards going with the chip install or not.

I think that a lot of the lag you guys experience is from VW/Audi's crappy drive by wire system. I know that a lot of the Passat B5.5 DBW guys complain about it.

Sell the car or convert to drive by cable? (if you have a B5 or B6 1.8T) http://www.034motorsport.com/product...ducts_id=13821

Other than that, I don't know if chip tuners have managed to re-program it. It's never been an issue so I haven't researched it in depth.

Hmm. I might have to look into it.

So far it seems like the tip chip for the 2.7T might be the best solution.

I have had great success with upgrading the drive by wire throttle response with a Sprint Booster. They attach to the port behind the break petal. I have noticed a huge increase in throttle response off the line as well at highway speeds.
