  • B5 S4 lost bit and adaptor by pass headlight

On vacation and lost HID ballast on passenger side. Was changing back to halogen to get me home and dropped the torx bit down the inside of the fender. Can't hear it rattling on the skid plate when I hit it. Any suggestions on easy ways to look around under the headlight and around IC? No place to lift car to pull skid plate or fender liner. But...how hard to remove skid plate?

Grill in bumper? Easy to pop it out? How?

Gonna have to take my HIDs off of DRLs when I get home. I was warned that they would burn out quickly.

grill in bumper just yank outwards

but the IC shroud will block

take off the belly pan below and look

FWIW i don't even use the far side torx bolts for my headlights.. too much PITA to remove/install so i just left them off

Ok, I have never removed belly pan myself. Limited tools, no ramps, limited Internet access to look for diy. How do I remove the pan?

jack car up on each side

2 screws in wheel wells.. 3 in the rear and 3-4 up front

i took mine off.. made oil changes so much simpler LOL

You can slide under there without jacking the car up if you have to...

You just need a stubby flat head screwdriver and do as Ryan said. The screws in the fender liner are plastic and only require a 1/2 turn.
