driver side looked good, no shaft play, passenger had some shaft play and showed evidence of a slightly eliptical orbit

hrmm.. when they are going what causes the whistle tho? bad air going through or lack of lubrication on the bearings?

The impeller rubbing on the housing can do it and so can damaged fins.
