VW != Audi

yah i love vw. yah i love european ford. yah i love any well engineered automobile. no i'm not claiming to be jeremy clarkson by having an opinion over what i like. but i will say one thing, this isn't an audi.











this is a car from the city i grew up in that i own a cabin. i come out here and sit on the lake to chill and drink beer. i putter around and enjoy myself. there is a local car scene and i occasionally bring what ever car i am driving that year to their meets. this year, this is what i saw.

it angered me. not because i own an audi and think i'm better. i also own a few fords and an austin and a merkur. but dude, this isn't right.... that's my problem!

i've never cared before. i drive by rice and giggle and sometimes ask my gf for reassurance "am i like that?". but i mostly don't care. this guy got on my nerves because he has this thread of "restoring" his helios. becuase he's a local guy, i read his thread. page after page i'm somewhat impressed by the photos and initiative. then suddenly *bang* he throws an audi badge on his vw. then he installs a baseball bat hanger. then he covers his rear windows in "performance stickers".

meanwhile back in the bat cave, everyone in the area is encouraging him. "yah that looks sharp dude." ... gotta be kidding me!

why's it bother me so much? lol

i wasn't even this bothered when i saw an SVT badge on a ford explorer.
