I just sold a 2008 RS4 with 10ks for $77k. An '07 still sells for ~$65k... so you can't really get an RS4 for that money.

See above, you can find a low mileage 07 or slightly higher 08 and have a way better car. One car is epic, the other is just "nice".

S4 obviously doesn't hold value well so I would not get one.

The same can be said for most vehicles pre and post recession. Prices were dropped as the result of the economy and currency fluctuations... The B8 S4 is priced accordingly to todays market.. and used prices and adjusted accordingly.

Putting the economy aside, look at your Cayman for example.. Its a very nice car! BUT you could have gotten a used (two or three year old) Turbo (Epic Car?) for about the same amount. Does that make your purchase decision any better or worse? Nope. Lots of people prefer a new car, especially with a newer body style.

i'm sure audi would lease a new s4 but i wouldn't lease one ever

use audis premiere financing.. RBC has this too

you make lease sized payments and have a lump sump at the end you can pay off or keep paying on.. could make for a 6 year car payment tho :/

but those b8s are NICE.. the a4s i've driven are sick.. the s4 would be twice as fun

Don't forget also...

2008 Audi RS4: Canadian MSRP at launch $94,200 CAD

U.S. MSRP at launch: $66,910 USD
Assuming an $0.85 USD/CAD that's roughly $78,700 CAD
Add on another 6.1% for importation is $83,500
Add in another $2,500 for shipping, fees, paperwork and you're at $86,000

So... there you have it... you just saved $8,000 for a little effort on your part. However, I don't think they were allowed importation at that time from the USA to Canada.

NOW... here's where the fun begins... you can now import these without any issues.

Take that same 2008 RS4 and buy it... hmmm... perhaps next year or so when the CAD races back up to near parity. For argument sake, let's assume a par dollar.

That U.S.-based 2008 Audi RS4 is now $66,910 CAD to start with...
Add on another 6.1% for importation is $71,000
Add in another $2,500 for shipping, fees, paperwork and you're at $73,500

NOW... YOU'VE JUST SAVED $20,000!!! So now you can see why there's a roughly $10,000 - $20,000 difference between Canadian used RS4 and American used RS4 pricing. To each his own but for me... I'll take the American-born RS4 and pocket the $20,000 for gas!

Anyhow... that's my $0.02 worth. I plan on snagging myself a low-mileage RS4 for $50,000 CAD all in next year.

P.S. S4 is still a wicked sweet ride... but its not World Performance car of the year. For the record, the Porsche Cayman was also World Performance car of the year in '06. In my books... that still classifies as epic.

Do prices from the first post include all taxes and other costs? Are you telling me that a B8 S4 premium package with 7-speed S-Tronic costs 58.800 Canadian Dollars? That's 37.000 euros! I will definitely import one of these used in a year, if all of these info are true!
