This is just horrible luck. I feel bad for both jordan and mark. You have both out alot of time and money into this thing. I prey the motor is ok and its just the turbos.

at this point in time i would be incredibly pissed off with tial.

Best of luck with the car jordan. And mark i hope you get this beast back someday.

      Guys,

The car was logged meticulously during the tuning process, and it was not running excessively rich. Some of you are speculating as to the cause of the problem without being fully informed about the symptoms of the car, or how it's behaving. I will update once I've tested the turbos and the motor, and will report back with conclusive evidence.

Thanks for all the well wishes, as well.

honestly, break it in anyway you want because it'll happen anyway. soon as you get on the throttle, wether it's 235235353 hp or 5, there is no difference.

if the "light/gay" break-in method meant anything these days, then a 110 hp car and a 500 hp car would need a different ammount of break-in time because they produce different power output at light throttle... 5 psi of boost in your break-in time is WOT for a toyota echo lol

this guy is actually pretty decent: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm ... i read it before i sent it.

but your break-in had nothing to do with the failure you are experiencing. don't let anyone tell you that. also, don't let anyone ever tell you that a leaking injector caused cylinder washout either. at least, i'd be very skeptical of that. unless it's like 60 psi of fuel line pressure POURING into the cylinder, that'd be bad! lol

but really, you'd see the oil level go up and probably light on fire before enough damage was done.

it doesn't take much effort to use your imagination. sit down and picture the process of the piston moving. picture the metal against metal and the various textures. picture the minimal ammount of outter pressure required from the rings. just picture picture picture and u'll put it all together. engines are tough little buggers.. that's why mechanics usually have the IQ of 6

when i run very rich on occasion for various reasons:

        1) the engine was just built and i don't know what the AFR will look like yet (set all points to 10.5 and drive around and lean up until it's where ya want it)

        2) calibrating a maf airflow for a new ductwork setup (set all afr points to 10.5 and tune the maf airflow chart until you see 10.5 at all throttle positions)

anyway, seriously.. don't dwell on the engine break-in period. just fix it and rock it

Interesting material on the hard break in thereory. Sounds legitimate and facts to back it up.. But the articale mentions nothing on how running rich helps seat the rings. I will look into that claim as I can't debate intelligently without first researching the topic.

oh i didn't mean you should purposely run rich to seat the rings. sorry, i should have mentioned that ...

So after all this is there an new time frame on this car?? Is the poor owner going to see it this year or is he out of luck yet again for another season?

Man I feel for the owner of this car but hopefully it will all work out in the long run for him!!

Like I mentioned in a post above, we're in the middle of a build for another ED member, and as soon as we're finished we're going to pull Mark's motor again and inspect everything. Depending on what we find, we'll have an idea of the time required to get the car back up and running again. It's too early to say a definite time-line right now, since it depends on which company we're going to have to deal with, and if it's Tial, how they respond to the situation.

Would it not make more sense to do all the test on this car find out what the problem is and send away what ever parts are the issuse and then while you are waiting for everthing to come back work on the other guys car? Since the onwner of this car has been waiting for so long? But I guess that is just my option and you no what they say about options.

Some times things are not meant to be simple!! But that is all part of life. I know if I was this guy I would not give a crap about anyone else car but my own. But once again just my own option

i think jordan has been more than accomidating on this build. pulling the motor for free the second time. Its just a run of bad luck im sure mark wants his car back just as bad as any of us would but it seems like his hands are tied at the moment. So quit giving jordan flack.

I am just saying what's on my mind and if I were the owner of this car I would be pissed off that my car is second in line. Maybe just think what you would think of this if that was your car.

What are you saying you would be happy to wait after spending all that money only to find out you have to wait again?????????Maybe just think what you would think of this if that was your car.

I am sure the owner is happy with all the work Jordan has done for him but I am thinking that he might just want his car back and is probly willing to pay for it to get finished so he can drive it..

I have nothing against Jordan and his work I am just writting from another point of veiw..

I sure would like to hear what the owner of this car thinks about this hole situation..

I understand your point and your argument, and I agree to a certain degree, but without going into unnecessary details, you need to understand that the mechanical aspect of Mark's build was finished and the break-in/tuning process began. We have a lineup of people waiting for us to do builds for them, so instead of sitting there with an empty garage while we tuned Mark's car, we started on the next build. We are currently in the middle of that build, so we don't have the capability to start another motor pull until this car is finished and we can make some room.

Demand has increased faster than we anticipated, so we are currently in the process of securing more work space.

So then my next question is, Are you guys at Precicion Motorsports going to give the owner of the Tial car sponsorship? So once you are finished with the car it will be a driving advertisment for you or are you not willing to put your name on it?
