  • Re: Project Tial650 S4 complete...

What is the difference from a hard break in to a soft break in? Also since the boost on this car is going to be lower will it still be a 600 hp car?

Hard=Warm it up, and beat the piss out of it

Soft=typically nothing over 4k rpm, no full throttle, nothing over 100km/hr

There are people on both sides that swear by each method...I beleive Merc AMG's recommend the Hard route.

Would there be a huge difference in the method when it comes to whether the car is FI or NA?

The car will have more power this time than it did the last time.

A hard break-in tends to be more appropriate for NA cars, while a soft break-in is better suited to FI cars. The high cylinder chamber pressures generated by boost can cause problems for piston rings that aren't properly seated yet.

Still doing engine break-in. It'll take a couple of weeks to finish that, and then another week or two to finish tuning the car. Then it'll be done.

The A4 is gone, you will have to settle for a crazy little GTI if it is ready
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you
