Ahh the horsepower wars, how long will it be until everyone is running stage 8 builds with quad GT40's. I remember not to long ago a GT28rs was a big turbo on the 1.8T. Now those are sooo '06. You're not a real man unless you're running a GT35. Just wait, it will happen on the S4's. BTW Ryan, did you ever get your tuning issues sorted out?

ha ha... I was one of those GT28rs guys with my 1.8T... waited and waited to upgrade to APR Stage 3+.. and even then was one of the few AEB guys they actually released the kit to.

But thats open to interpretation as well.... what some people considered Stage 3+ wasnt what other people did...

The "stage #" system is very subjective throughout the entire car world.

Thats a good questions... AFAIK there were ~ 10 of those kits sold. I think it had more to do with software... unfortunately the AEB was one of the strongest years as well!

I agree, between the big port heads, and 20mm wrist pins they take well to BT setups. I guess the problem is that the knock protection isn't so hot though. Problem is the company has to assume that the average end user is a moron that will do multiple 30 sec 4th gear pull in +35C summer temps and then claim that the kit blew his engine. So I can see why they'd be hesitant to tune and release a kit for that type.

What ever happened to this car?? Did it get put on the back bench or is there any new news about it? The last post I seen was that it got bored out to a 2.8 what are the benfits of doing that?

More displacement = more exhaust output = easier to spool large turbos.

The engine builder (VAST) is waiting on Tial to send them replacement parts for the faulty turbos. When those arrive, VAST will finish the engine, send it back up to me, and I will put it back in the car. Then I will re-tune the car. We've just been waiting for this engine for what seems like an eternity...

Barring another set of faulty turbos from our friendly neighborhood Tial dealer, that shouldn't be a problem

I thought that Tial was a fairly reptabule company,But from what I am reading that might be questionable? What are some of your guys opinion's? Is there any new progress on this car,I still can't wait to see a 600hp s4 around alberta

It seems like there are a fair amount of TIAL cars up and running successfully... I guess there is always room for error. Im sure its just as easy to get faulty Ko4's or RS6's...

I agree with Mark- any turbo company will put out a lemon from time to time. I'm not sure this build is representative of what Tial is capable of, but it surely hasn't been the best experience for the owner of the car, myself, or the company that put together the engine internals, since all of us have been put out a significant amount of money because of these turbos.

The motor should be on its way back to me sometime within the next week. Once it arrives, I can get back to work re-building and re-tuning the car.

Well I talked to the guys at VAST and my motor/sticker's has been loaded up and shipped out. So it should be in Canada some time next week.

Still waiting on UPS to show up at my door step with a motor. Should be any day now.
