  • Hello from new member (S4 owner) in Olds, Alberta

    Hello everyone.

Just joined the board after finding out about it.

I recently aquired a used silver '04 Audi S4, 6-spd from an Audizine member in NYC, with 44K miles on it. Car has several mods already from previous owner.

Car took a while to get shipped up here and was not quite as nice as I was led to beleive (had a rat's nest on top of engine!), but overall was OK. Never saw winter driving, and the underside looks like new. I had to shell out some dollars for new tires as the last owner liked sidewall stretch a little too much and the nearly new Dunlop tires were all bulged and deformed on the sides. Fixed a leaky driveshaft boot and seized eccentric bolt underneath. Bought some 18" B6 RS4 reps and winter tires, too.

The car has Milltek catback, K&N panel, RS4 swaybars, FK coilovers, RNS-E, and 19" OEM RS6 wheels. I also have JHM intake spacers (not installed yet.)

Hoping (over time) to add a used set of DP's or do VAST piggies, poly snub and rear diff mounts, center diff upgrade, JHM shifter upgrades, get some intake work done, JHM custom tune, and not sure which future mods after that.

I'm at work right now, so I will have to wait until later to post up some pics.

I also thought I would let you guys know I have a fully licensed, recent edition VAG-COM with cables to do all connections. Feel free to drop by and use it sometime if you need it. My house is open to all car and bike enthusiasts if you just want to chat about cars, or meet to do some wrenching or detailing together. I will ask a small amount ($5) for the Vag Com favor to regain some of the cost of the extra cables I bought to do other VW/Audi cars with. While I know a couple tricks, I'm not even close to being a VAG-Com expert, so make please make sure you do your research on what codes you need to change before you show up.

Looking forward to meeting some members from the local car scene. I'm a long-time gearhead who has owned many different rides. While this car is my 4th VW/Audi product, I'm not a brand loyalist and I like all cars and trucks.

    'Later!

Sounds good. You should let me set you up with a SC kit, then you can go fast

I want to see what the long term effects of the SC are before I decide to go that way.

Not sure I need that much power to be happy. It would sure be nice, but I like a well balanced, responsive car and I think I would like to spread the wealth a bit over the whole car as far as performance mods go.

I've got a supercharged ride already, and they come with their own set of headaches. Its one thing to have one on a pet project vehicle, but I am unsure if I would do it to a DD. I want to see long term reliability of the S/C'd S4 cars. These kits are still pretty new.

You sell VAST and JHM parts? Do you have a price list you can send me? I have several parts I am interested in, eventually. I want the short shifter and other shifter upgrades first.....

Yeah, I agree, the SC kits are quite new and unproven on the V8 as far as longevity goes.

Yes, I'm the Canadian distributor for VAST and JHM. I don't keep a price list because the prices are always changing with the exchange rate and the inflation rate. The best bet is to ask for a price quote closer to the time that you are looking to buy, at which point I could give you a better idea of pricing. I am always able to give pricing that is a bit cheaper than VAST or JHM, since I choose to take less profit than they do, so things end up being a bit cheaper for the customer. I can get anything that is sold by VAST or JHM, but for a little less money

As far as the shifter upgrades go, just let me know what you're interested in and I can get you some prices. I assume the SS, delrin bushing, and solid linkage?

            Here's the S4:

Needs a good detail. Even if it doesn't show, it is pretty dirty right now. I guess that is one of the perks of silver......

Re: Hello from new member (S4 owner) in Olds, Alberta

Thanks. I like the wheels too, but they are filthy at the moment and need a few nicks repaired on the edges. Probably not until next year. Was thinking I might strip them, then give them the polish or chrome treatment for a unique look. Or I will get R8 reps, or shop for some used forged wheels. Normally, I do not like seeing chrome on a car, but it seems to look OK on a silver car when I have seen it, so I think I might try it with the RS6 wheels. Gotta try polishing them at least.

No, not the only Audi. There's at least a dozen A4's alone, an A8L, few TT's, an Allroad, a 5000, and a 90. I never see them all around at once. I think I am the only S4 so far.

So I would say there are definitely a few VW / Audi fans in town. Enough to support a European car repair shop, anyhow.

First day I drove it home, it was still slammed pretty low and tires were tucked and stretched. Turned lots of heads as I drove by, slowly. I've gotten several comments from people who are unfamiliar with Audis telling me they really liked my car. Most of them thought it was a new model and were surprised when I said they used to make them like this 5 years ago and there are 1 or 2 newer S4 generations. (I usually consider the B6/B7 to be the same thing.)

There's a guy on the next street (I never seem to see him out to be able to talk to him and introduce myself) who has 3 VW's in his garage; a nice silver Mk1 cab, a black Corrado G60, and a nice red Mk5 GTI.

Just wondering if anyone on the board is this guy, or know him.

                    Sorry. Forgot to re-size them.

Will try to do it later, but in the meantime if you right click on the picture and select the "view" option, it comes up normal size at the higher resolution.
