Well I pulled the codes off the car as it smokes in the drive way

17968 - Maximum Engine Speed Exceeded: Engine Warranty Void! :-) (they actually put a fucking happy face in the code)
P1560 - 35-10 Intermittent

16538 - Oxygen Sensor B2S1: No Activity
P0154 - 35-00

But now the O2 sensor is reading again when i went out and scanned it.

Also LTFT's where

2.6 3.1 1.9 -5.5
Don't know if the -5.5 was from the drivers turbo going or the O2 dying

how fast did you go to pull that code? i've done 265-270ish and have never seen that and i vag my car every week or so for codes

could a bad 02 cause your smoking? maybe you blew a turbo gasket and oil is leaking into the exhaust now?

I wasn't driving my dad was out teaching the BMW school and got black flagged he didn't know why until they told him to look behind him and the thick white fog hung in the air around the track.

The old man did say the car still held boost fine and there was no turbo lady noise? He didn't even know there was anything wrong with the car.

I'm not sure if its the turbos then... maybe coolant leak that is burning? I think it wouldnt hold boost and there would be a severe noise...
May be worth getting it checked out before saving for new K04's!

Depending on what kind of boost level you're running, 1 K04 could sustain the proper boost level (it would REALLY be pushed, though).

hrmm we'll i've bounced mine off the limiter before in 2nd gear a few years ago and never threw that code

It's not bouncing off the limiter, it's over-reving. Like going from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th at 140km/hr or shifting into 1st instead of 3rd at 80 - there is no computer that can stop/save you. If the gear goes in and the car revs to 15K or whatever then something has to give. It's like tossing a grenade in your engine and seeing what happens. :(

The maximum engine speed exceeded code is NOT from mis-shifting and grenading your engine.

Don't get too worried about that fault code. When you have a chip in your car that removes the rev limiter (or increases it), you can get that code just by allowing the engine rpm's to go over (IIRC) somewhere around 7200. I've had that code plenty of times. No worries there.

If your dad missed a gear and over-rev'd the engine, that would NOT affect or damage the turbos, since the turbos are driven by engine load. Your engine may have been damaged, though...
