i got this adapter from my neighboor . maybe tonight i'll use his vag-com cd with it's serial number instead of the demo version . it's wierd that it detects the adapter but not the car . i wonder if it has something to do with k-line .

i'll probe the port to see if where the k-line is at

but first! gotta go to the airport!

dunno, still learning . may have to visit jordan someday and download his brain lol

i measured the k-line off the obdii connector and it's 10.2v . from what i read here it should be under 9v

it may be the connector i'm using . i'm gonna spin by concept since i have to have a chat with them about the lug bolts anyway. maybe they can give it a scan.

my check engine light is on permanently now

Sounds like a good missfire.. it will stay on. You can use my serial cable if you want..its worked on the car before.

They agree to do anything for you for the bolts?

(edit) It looks like K-line is 96+ so the S4 will have it... so the above errors could be realted to your aftermarket headunit.

yah totally was a misfire . so the interface i was using with my vag didn't work . don't know why . might be either the software or the interface . so the guys who live a few houses down all work at tunedub and one brought the scan tool from work home to scan it .

we watched the misfire count at idle . cylinder 1 kept climbing . 1... 2 .... 3.4.... 5... 6.7.8.... so it's either a coil or plug .

either way i'm getting 6 new plugs and 6 new coils tomorrow morning from tunedub

Wow.. going all out! Some of those coils have been replaced within the last year, so be sure to get them back!! (Just tell them to ditch cylinder 1)

lol i'm doing it myself . i'm just getting the stuffs from them .

i like building and spec'ing and designing engines and modifications . i really really really dislike repairing and fixing things . that's what mechanics are for

i'm getting a super duper good price on the coils so i can't turn that down . i'll chuck #1 and keep the rest as spares for sure .

i'm going to red deer to go get my friends car today . he got a new engine installed with my old supercharger from my svt . he's from ontario and staying with me for a few days . he'll be coming to the meeting tonight . but don't worry, svt focus' are build in germany (known as the st170) . so be nice to him

If it's over at lightspeed you might want to cancel that i see a lot of smoke coming out of a focus over there.

HAHA noooooooooo noooo . it's good . probably a lot of smoke out of the engine it showed up with! the guy that had it before drove across the country with 91 octane on a 94 octane tune . got to northern ontario and POP . had it towed back to red deer lol

the guy who has it now is my friend who bought it . new motor but same supercharger setup (m62 eaton)

also, fixed my misfire . i went to change the plugs and the coil pack for cylinder 1 was held on by only one bolt that had vibrated loose. it wasn't making a proper ground... i changed the plugs anyway. runs good.

but mark, i dunno how the hell u got those salco silicon couplars to fit on the y pipe . omg what a f'n nightmare . i swore for 30 minutes trying to get the clamp to hold. they're so slippery (Even after washing with detergent) that the hose and clamp just slide off the pipe while tightening. they're about 1 inch too short! i'm going to send the manufacturer hate mail lol

grrr it's misfiring again . so it wasn't the plugs . but i'm 100% sure that when i put the new plugs in and bolted everything up that it idled smooth . now it's misfiring agian .

i have 3 vag adapters now in total . i borrowed marks (db-9 serial). i borrowed my neighboors (usb). and i bought one (usb). none of them work with my laptop. must be due to windows 7. that's all i can think of.

i tried with vag-com versions 409.1, 805.3, and 905 beta.

is anyone out there willing to give me a scan? pleeeeeeease
