  • CIA on turbo engine Question

DO cold air intakes really help or do anything for a Turbo set up...???

I have heard so many different things, and not sure what is right. Any in site would be great..

Turbochargers definitely compress the air, which increases the density of the O2 molecules, but cold air also helps.

Cold air is always beneficial, regardless of the car being FI or NA.

freddy.. IF you can fit an intake in your car that goes into the wheel well area then IMO you will gain

if it sit in the engine bay then you'll just get sound.. thats my 2C

I like Kris's answer for this one. A lot of factory systems work good right out of the box. Cold air is indeed better for an engine, but if the factory system works good already and adding an aftermarket setup that uses lots of extra piping say for alternate routing to get to some cold air then you could end up with neglidgable gains or even losses. I guess the best thing to do is just lots of research to see which CAI set ups if any can be beneficial for your 135, (sweet ride by the way!) don't listen to what the manufacturer says, listen more to what the users and the tuning shops have to say about it.

Re: CIA on turbo engine Question

People on the zine have beaten this to death for the B5 and B6 crowd... before the crash a couple years ago it was easy enough to find dyno sheets showing decrease in power with the Carbonio and others.

I punched a couple holes with a dremmel underneath the box and it sounds better but nothing noticeable in the way of power.

                Weak sauce, indeed.
