Engine Stumbles under load

Hi,

New to both the form and Audi. I have 2004 Audi A4 1.8T. I don't have code scanner so I don't know what codes are showing. Under low end ( 2000 to 3000) rpm power it seems to stumble, maybe it misses ( not sure ). No backfire or anything. It flashed the check engine light several times and finaly set to a steady "ON". Could this be faulty spark coil? Any Ideas?

Best bet is to get it scanned. There is a thread in one of the forums here that has a list of who has VAG-COM. Most people will be wiling to help out if you ask them.

Well, the flashing CEL is a misfire. You could take a guess at the cause, and say that it could be any number of things from a bad spark plug to a blown head gasket. Like the other guys said, the only way to know for sure is to scan the car.

i'm gonna say coil pack myself but you need some scanning done

4 new coilpacks and everything is good again.

when was the last time you replaced your plugs, they should be done every 1 to 2 years on the 1.8t as they create similar problems as well.

New Plugs last month.

One should keep the old sound coils as spare => in future you could consider replacing the faulty coil only. If you prefer to replace all of them - offer the old ones for somebody on the forum that could benefit from your generosity.
