Got into my B5 S4 last night when it was -30 and had been sitting outside for a while and the airbag light came on at the start and stayed that way. I figured it was a "car's really cold" issue and left it until today to look at (with the hopes it would go off on its own). Light still on today....scanned with the VAD-mobile (VAG) tool and I cannot find reference to the airbag in any of the areas. Is it not something I can connect to? I'd like to be able to find out what's wrong and re-set it if possible.

Re: Airbag light - where on VAG-COM?
Hi Jeff, have you run a scan for any fault codes yet? If you haven't done it already try resetting your DTC's and if the problem isn't re-occuring you should be able to clear it. My A4 gets the same problem from time to time in the cold. The airbags are module 15 by the way, should be clearly listed or at least it is in my VAG-com.Last edited by The Brice; 01-03-2009, 10:10 PM.2002 996TT

I did a full dtc scan and nothing showed up. Will try 15 in the morning. If it doesn't work I may give you a shout, Ryan. Thanks.Jeff

You can clear codes with the demo version, but you can't log or recode anything.Jordan

if you have crash data stored you will need a new airbag module.
coding is easy.
this demo unit has full capabilty it's not a software demo.
it's a loaner loaded with all options.

Re: Airbag light - where on VAG-COM?
I was able to scan module 15 with the VAD, but could not clear the faults. Don't remember them off the top of my head. Is it normal for airbag stuff to not clear? Not knowing anything about it, my current interpretation is that the problem continues to exist and needs to be addressed before I can reset the fault.Jeff

Re: Airbag light - where on VAG-COM?
Well, isn't that great news to start out the year. ECS has them for about a grand, and the DIY I found makes me unhappy as my radio install was not designed for removal. My bad on that one. So much for any potential of a new exhaust this year...Jeff

No, Paul, none of those symptoms. Same thought crossed my mind, so I will keep an eye on it. Will post the codes tomorrow in case it leads me in a different direction. Have not had a lot of time to look at AW/AZ yet.Jeff
