I've also heard that the new M3's power is cut back for the cars initial break-in period while the 3.0tt's is not. If that is true I'm sure that would have also contributed to this outcome. Both very cool cars by the way, but personally I'd go with the 335xi due to the awd provided with some good tuning potential.

Well it was proven that even just getting the Dinan Tuned 335i is SOO close to the M3's specs and can keep up with the M3 on the track and in a straight line.

Stage 2 Dinan is 380 BHP and like 420 for torque.

The difference is that the M3 is designed to sustain its power level for many 1000's of km's, while, like the 2.7T, if you push those little snails on the 3.0TT too hard, they die very prematurely.

the start of that video talking about the 'm' makes me want to punch the guy in the face..

i've seen that video before

i'd have to test drive both if i wanted a bmw but i'd almost go 335 since you can mod it very well.. but can you get m3 seats in a 335? little things like that help the sale for me.. considering now i rarely boost my car hahaha

you can easily make the 335i the same power as the M3 now, Active Autowerke was nice Turbo upgrades and everything, not to mention you can get handling products from the many companies out there now. 335i (modded) FTW!

I think the 335i is a few 100 pounds more too the the 135i.

I would love to see a duel with the new M vs stage 3 135i

I'm pretty sure a tuned 135 would out pull M3 due to power/weight advantage, but on the other hand without an LSD it's probably pretty tough to get that power to the ground off the line or in the corners. With an LSD though that car would be a killer.

Looks like they should have gave the M3 more power.

there are rumors that they are already in the process of making the next generation M3's a V8 bi-turbo.

probably the same motor as the x6 but tuned better..
