Re: 135 vs e92 m3 vid
Had to be a modded 135..I watched a vid comparing 135 to 335 to E46 M3 and the 135 BARELY came out on top of the e46..not a chance its gonna hit the same qtr times as an e92.
that said, the 135 is some impressive stuff..REAL men use harsh language as self-defense

The 135 isn't the holy grail that most people think it is. Check out the curb weight and you'll see what I mean. It's not much lighter than your B5 S4, Ryan.
That race was all about the launch. The driver can make such a HUGE difference.Jordan

Re: 135 vs e92 m3 vid
BMW 135 curb weight - 3373 lbs.
B5 S4 - 3384 to 3704 lbs depending on year and options.
Try a Suzuki Scudo and THERE you have a real power to weight ratio. Scudo pike's peakLast edited by The_Jerbel; 01-04-2009, 07:14 PM.Jordan

Re: 135 vs e92 m3 vid
You can see the M3 launches at about 2 - 2.5k, you'd think the car would nearly stall down there while the 135 launches up near 5k and gets a much better take off. Still I'm surprised the M3 didn't gain more ground by the finish line. Got to love them torquey twin turbos.
A ~3400lb b5 s4 Jordan, must be the earlier euro b5. I didn't know they were anywhere near that weight. I know my 02 manual is a fat pig at over 3600lbs out of the box but she's on a diet now.Last edited by The Brice; 01-05-2009, 09:47 AM.2002 996TT

The '01 and '02 B5's were the heaviest ones you could get. The tip was especially heavy. That ESP hardware you've got adds an extra ~200-300 lbs over the '00 model. The '98-'99 were the lightest ones made.Jordan

Re: 135 vs e92 m3 vid
As far as I understood ESP was mainly just electronics integrated into the cars ABS system, there is no way it's 2-300lbs. more. Here found this on AZ...

Re: 135 vs e92 m3 vid
Nope, ESP actually adds a decent amount of weight. So do steel control arms over the aluminum version. The funny thing is that individual cars vary quite a bit by weight, even of the same MY and configuration.
Regardless of the exact lbs difference, if you take an average of 3500-3600lbs for the NA version of the B5 S4, you're still only about 200lbs heavier than the 135. That's like having an average size guy in the passenger seat.Jordan
