Audi radio codes - fact or fiction?

Asked the dealer to look up the radio code on an '07 RS4 and was told since MY05 the radios cannot be re-initiated by using a code and has to be plugged into the scanner by the dealer.

Any truth to that?

Seems a bit odd that Audi would go to the trouble of having radio codes in the first place!

might be true. i know vw has stopped giving out immobilizer codes, car has to be plugged into their system (it's called geko)
