    Re: Strange coolant behavior

    And the saga continues....

Had the (warmed up) car connected to the VAD Mobile tonight. Computer is showing Coolant temp at 80...and the gauge on the dash shows 90 (and falls to just below if I am driving for a bit).

Still takes forever to warm up...but will watch the VAD versus the gauge in the morning.

    Stay tuned...
    Jeff

      Re: Strange coolant behavior

pull that hose off the heater core with the little white lined hole on it just far enough for the coolant to spill out, put it back on just a little, heat the car up, rev it lots, then pull back line, whatch out for hot coolant spraying, do it a couple times as there may be a couple air pockets. If that doesnt do it and all air is out for sure, I would bank on the t-stat.

I do not. It goes to Cosmos for a front bumper respray torrow then straight from there to TuneDub on Friday so George can see it cold.

respray is warranty service from peeling clearcoat. They would not let me wait until spring. Free is free, though.

Problem fixed. It was....the thermostat. I missed boost....and am glad to have "go" again. :-)

Seems I may have celebrated too soon. The problem was still here this morning. Hmmm

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a winner! Coolant temp sensor #2 seems to have addressed all of the symptoms. Stoopid little part causes such havoc.

Good to hear it's running good for you now but are you saying that replacing your temp sensor made your cold air issues go away? Or did the new t-stat clear that up and the guage was still acting up?

                          Re: Strange coolant behavior

I never had a cold air issue. I had a cold engine issue and was using interior heater to help diagnose if the coolant was warm when the gauge read cold. In all, I now have power higher in the rpm's and I really missed it.

                            Re: Strange coolant behavior

Hmmm, you really had me confused then. haha

I thought you said that you had a cold air issue. That's why I was saying that you either had air in the system, or a bad heater core. If you had a loss of power and the car wasn't running properly, than the CTS was the #1 most obvious cause.

Glad you got it figured out!
