  • Brake pads, A4

    Hey Guys,

    My dad has a 2006 A4 2.0T.

    He has factory brake pads all around and he find them to make too much of a mess. Just drive for a block or 2 and his front wheels are black with dust.

    Any aftermarket pads out there that will make less of a mess without hurting performance?

    Also, i have changed pads on my Jetta and GTI no problem, would his Audi be much differnt to do myself?

    No if you've changed pads before it won't be any/much more difficult on your dad's A4. Just run a search on AW or AZ if you are having any issues, pretty simple stuff though.
    No suggestions for a good clean pad to use though as the ones I use produce a lot of dust, I'm sure someone else will chime in with suggestions for you though.

      EBC Green is pretty good for reducing the amount of dust.

            Wow I use HPS's and they are dusty as $**t, but then again I'm using them with big slotted rotors.

                I never understood how Hawk markets the HPS' as lower dusting....
                My friend had HPS' and then switched to HP+ and both produced so much brake dust he just painted his rims gunmetal so it'd be less obvious

                  Just so you know, Hawk HP+ is not a low dust pad. Hawk clearly states that;

                  "Due to this product's dramatic fricition levels, the user may notice increased noise, dust and pad and rotor wear"

                    Correct. But he went to the HP+ for more stopping power and it didn't produce any *more* dust than the HPS' he had on the ITR before....

                      Interesting, I have run HPS on my personal cars and have seen tons of cars with them on without a huge brake dust problem like OEM BMW/Benz pads have. Was he a trasher by any chance who was always on his brakes hard?

                        Heheheehe, you betcha. I bet even EBC pads (with their lighter colored and reduced dust) wouldn't have helped him.

                        On the upside, dust or not, he loves Hawk pads for their initial bite, stopping power and pedal feel (both HPS and HP+, and after he painted his rims, he had no complaints about the HP+)
