We're going to need a little more information than that to be able to help you out. What car, what year, what model, what are you trying to do, what is wrong, etc.
One knows how beneficial is for computers to get bounced from time to time?
Even to format and reload the HD?
Reading something (don't remember the source) led me to the idea of flush-purge of the transmission in terms to get rid of accumulated bad habits and other garbage (software related) - may be the adaptation (if any) is way to go?
Or there are other methods?
don't think there is much merit to doing this. there really isn't an ability for this system to store much of anything. it merely does what hard coded programing, and sensor input tells it to do. It will report any malfunctions, and carry on. Clearing codes is pretty close to a reset to the system as far as I know.
Unhooking the battery for at least 15 minutes usually clears anything it uses to adapt to your particular driving habits. The car may run kinda crappy for a couple of days while it relearns, then should be good.
