  • Intermittent Underboost Issue

I have a persistent MIL light that pops up and goes away after a while, can't remember the exact code but it's for failure to meet requested boost.

It occurs after a period of driving nice (not into the boost so as to save fuel) and then punching it (either aggressively merging or for shats and giggles). Then, if I drive nice for a while and turn the car on/off a few-five times, it goes away.

Asked George to log measuring block 115 and he said it's meeting boost required during drive up to 120 km/h at 2080 millibar.

George wasn't concerned enough about the MAP sensor, or leaks in the plumbing to start testing them, insomuch as pointing toward potential software issues, and he mentioned an airflow meter that could cause sporadic boost issues. Said it was a $300 maybe...

Any suggestions? I've had N75, N249 or G31 sensors suggested as being faulty. Also a question to see if it was a deviation code but without a VAG of my own it's difficult to confirm that at the moment.

    TIA!

    PS

I should mention the only things I've done to the car are having it flashed by Chris in Red Deer last Christmas-time with Unitronic to stage 1 and having George install a 710N last October.

If you bring it to me I can log the car for you and tell you what is wrong with it.

      Drat.

I'm in Edmonton for the long haul (until October or so).

I knew I should have logged into my dormant eurodrivers account a LOOOOONG time ago.

Thanks though and let me know if you're coming north!

Call Dubsport in Edmonton and ask for Richard. I used to take my old '88 Jetta to him when I lived in E-town for a summer and didn't have any of my tools...

Is that where the weekly Friday meets are? If so, I'll be there week...

I'll probably call either way though.

          Thanks!
