I'm just wondering how much time it would take to make piggie pipes. I'm not very mechanically inclined so I'd have to take it to a shop so I'd like to figure out how much I'm looking at spending

It doesn't take long to make a set of piggies, there have been a few threads here on the topic aloso there are a ton of threads on AW and AZ on this as well just do some searching.

I sort of get how to make them (the gutting process), I'm just wondering how long it would take to pull the engine, etc, gut the downpipes, put everything back

I believe you said that you had a TIP, yes? If so, the dp's are nearly impossible to get out with the engine in the car. I think it has been done before, but it is a HUGE pain in the ass because of all the extra crap on the back of the engine (SAI, etc.).

Yeah, it is a tip. I figured the engine would need to be pulled. I've never had the engine out before, how long does that take?

            Re: Piggie Pipes

haha...that's a pretty envolved question. If you were only doing it to get at the dp's, you wouldn't have to pull the entire thing. You could probably get away with unbolting the motor and tranny mounts and just moving the engine forward slightly...just enough to get at the turbo to dp bolts (you would probably have to undo the shifter linkage as well). DO NOT do all that work only to do the piggies though, it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.

edit: to answer your question...it probably took me about 20 hours to get the engine out and that was working VERY slow. It was my first time doing it so I was very methodical. Total time to R&R my turbos, as well as all the other crap I installed, was about 40 hours. I am confident I could remove AND reinstall the engine/tranny in 2 days knowing what I do now.

Yeah if that is the case, while you have the engine out might as well get some other stuff done. Stage III it :-)

Hey Kyle I need a ride in your car! I want to do a little logging and maybe get a new revision burned specifically for your car.
