  • Throttle Position Sensor?

    So, driving my S4 around town lately, there are times when I am accelerating and the car has a big hesitation almost like I've lifted off of the throttle. Engine doesn't stutter or anything like that, and it's not consistent between easy or hard acceleration. It is very much as though I've lifted off the gas.

    Research is pointing towards the Throttle Position Sensor, but are there any other suggestions? No CEL...yet.

    I am hoping it is covered under my CPO warranty...may even give Royal Oak a try.

    Re: Throttle Position Sensor?

    I would log the throttle position sensor and make sure that it's 100% under WOT. Also check for codes. Sounds like something a bad EGT would cause.

      Thanks Jordan.

      EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature?

      To log the sensor will require a VAG, no?

      I may need to borrow your expertise again...I'll bring some of your favorite refreshments this time.

        Yup EGT is exhaust gas temperature sensor. And yes you'll need a VAG.

        No problem, I can help you out whenever, let me know.

          EGT probably.. mine had a bad one only started to jerk once i got chipped but glenmore fixed it under CPO for me.. told them it was a bad EGT and gave them the code hahahaha.. they are pricey buggers so hopefully CPO will work for you

            Did they care that your car was chipped? I'd hate to had to swap them out...

              nope.. they didn't complain or anything.. i think they felt bad because they had to order the sensor and keep the car overnight so they gave me a brand new A8 to drive home that day.. baller!

                      if you're CPO, they will cover it...and it's a good thing too! EGT's suck to replace...

                        Passenger side was quick and easy but the drivers side was more of a pita for sure.
