Audi has pulled the curtain back on its stylish new hauler, showing off the A4 Avant just a few weeks ahead of the car’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Avant version of Audi’s premium mid-size offering uses more or less the same mechanical package as the standard A4 sedan, which is no bad thing. But the A4 Avant brings a measure of utility to the line that is only possible with a wagon. The car will swallow a substantial 50.5 cubic-feet of cargo with the 60/40 split rear seats stowed, and even a respectable 17 or so with a full load of passengers.
The A4 Avant will come to market with four engine options, two diesels and two gas burners, with the top of the line being a 3.2-liter FSI V-6 that will produce 265 horsepower. Even lower down the range though, the Audi mills are likely to make for surprisingly spirited driving in such a useful package.
