Looking at older(ish) TTs

So with the new TTs out I'm thinking of taking a look at some older body style TTs. I've been wanting a coupe for a while now for some reason, never had one before and I figure at this stage in life when I can get away with an less practical car I should at least look at them.

I'm looking at 04s and 05s, seems to be there in and around the 35-45k range which isn't too bad. Anything I should look out for? I'd like to get a 3.2Quattro with DSG if I can find one.

I'd look in the States where they are only about $25 000 to $30 000 for a TT in those years.

I would seriously get a 225hp 1.8t. Best 1.8T built, a classic award winning engine, with so much potential for extra fun and power. And gonna be way, way cheaper.

yea i test drove a 225.. so much fun.. kinda small inside but hey its a small car.. great power and the stock exhaust sounds great too.. easy mod potential too..

TT's from the US require modifications to the bumpers although it's pretty difficult to get a straight answer as to whats required.

From the Transport Canada list of admissible vehicles:

2000 TT Coupe (see notes)**>
2001 TO 2006 TT Coupe & TT Roadster*

The two asterisks (**) indicate that the vehicle in question is admissible for importation but will require modifications to the
existing bumper(s) before the vehicle can be registered and licensed.

If anyone happens to know what exactly is required I'd love to know

Thanks for the replys, The 225 does sound nice, there aren't as many availible it seems though. I found a 3.2 to test drive which I will probably be doing today.

Getting one from the states is defintly an option, I'll have to look into all the details though. On that note as well, how much does it cost to have a car shipped? I'd love to be able to drive it back, but work and work may dictate having it shipped.

best bet is to try to find one in a nearby state.. fly there and drive it back.. semi vacation lol

I was quoted $1695 from Arizona

So whats the deal with bumpers? what needs to be done?

You need Canadian Spec bumpers, which involves the different bumper with tumors and different re-bar I believe front and rear. There maybe some creative ways to work it though
