Audi TT S Testing

Here are the latest spy images of the Audi TT-S. With the same 2.0 liter TFSI engine from the Audi S3, but bumped up to 280hp, the TT-S will be available as Coupe and Roadster. The TT-S will visually differentiate itself from its “lesser” equipped variants with a new front bumper fascia, 4 exhaust pipes and new LED headlamps similar to those recently seen in the new RS6 Avant. In these photos the LEDs are located along the lower front edge, seen in the Red TT-S, but on the Roadster TT-S is covered with a white strip. Also expected are larger brakes. Hopefully,the TT-S will receive sportier looking wheels.

Sources indicate a Geneva debut in March 2008 for the TT-S. However, good things come to those who wait. Expected a year later is the Audi TT-RS with its twin-turbo 3.6 liter V6 engine which will produce approximately 350hp.

would make for easier oem upgrades for an s3, or even a GTI!

I thought popular opinion would be a Turbo I5 for the RS?

I don't know why they are bothering with so many TT's. Just give us the base TT and the RS.

Preproduction test mules of the upcoming TTS have been seen rounding the Nurburgring weeks ago, while just this week, two more undisguised red examples were photographed behind a chain link fence at an Audi facility in Germany. We know the TTS is coming, and now we know when.

Word is, the TTS drops in Motown as a full production model. Even better, we are happy to confirm that the car will be sold in North America.

From the preproduction versions spotted, we can make a pretty good guess at what the TTS will look like. The attached mockup by Hans Zwijnenburg shows what we believe the car might look like - the body kit lifted directly from the preproduction prototype spy photos.

Under the hood will be the same more powerful drivetrain as the European S3. It may be a slightly different tune, but we’re told the setup is basically the same. Going on that, the S3’s 265-hp 2.0T should be quite potent in the lighter and nimbler alloy TT chassis.

So is anything actually different in the 265/280hp versions of the TFSI (ie turbo) compared to the regular 200hp version, or is it just the tune?

Autoblog posted about the TT-RS again today

Latest rumor is:

"The RS-badged TT is claimed to get a 5-cylinder turbo with 308 horsepower."

Too bad, stock that will not beat the competitors.

Chipped though, that could be pretty fantastic.

TO see full specs on the 2.0T 2nd gen just check out Vw UK. They have the GTI with that engine option. Also that is the same engine in the S3 coupe, you can see the specs on vortex with that new 2.oT power plan.

I looked at the dealer book when i was at audi in munich, Bigger turbo, better fuel pump, new injectors , and a few other nice upgrades. Like Bart said Just better.

GTI Ed 30 is 230hp, thats it.

The S3 is 265hp but has the newer 2.0T engine.

You can get this same engine in the GTI in Europe but its only 230hp, its just detuned from the 265 audi S3.

I'd bet money that the 230hp 2.0T is exactly the same as the 200hp 2.0T except for the software.
