Re: BMW 1 Series Coupe Official For North America

I am sure Simon will be able to get that much power at a better price for the 335. Will be interesting to see if the 135 has any over heating issues like the 335s though.

Keep in mind that this is its first year of production. Im sure they will fix this issue and any others that arise shortly. Thats why I would wait for the second year of production for the 135....so they can work out any kinks.

Re: BMW 1 Series Coupe Official For North America

Hate to say it guys but I've already started down the road to the dark side. Sold my GLI last week and in line (1st in line actually after the demo car)for the 135 from Calgary BMW. There are now 8 people on the waiting list and the anticipated delivery is April 2008. I have an idea about pricing (somwhere between $35k-$45k hopefully), but if its through the roof (which it can't really be without getting into 3 series territory) then I'll just get a 128 which I think will be pretty nice too. the 135 be starting sub $35k US, and with the exchange rate where its at the automakers will have to do something to address price differentials, whether it be increasing standard options on CDN cars over US cars, or reducing the price on new models, who knows.

I agree with you guys about the kinks though. Its a bit of a risk but the engine has been in the 335 for a couple years now, and the first 135's for Euro sales will be rolling out of the factory this month. so hopefully major issues will be clear by then.

So for me, now the wait begins. I know selling my car and buying one which no one in North America has driven seems pretty naive, so I hope I haven't shot myself in the foot, but I am pretty stoked for this car and if BMW pulls it off I think its really going to raise the bar for entry level performance cars.

Im right behind you, but im waiting till the 2nd batch comes. Ive had enough with first year models even when they have been in europe for over a year.

I think this 135 with a few mods will be a real deadly weapon.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked about it. I know the press really hasn't driven the car yet, but from all the specs I've seen, it seems like BMW is really doing things right on this car. I really didn't think they'd but the TT I-6 in such a small car, but they did. Then when I read about details like the 6-piston callipers in the front, it became pretty clear their heads are in the right place on this one.

Duby T > Don't be too jealous. I'll be jealous of all you guys when I'm taking the bus listening to my ipod or having my girlfriend shuttle me around this winter... :-(

On another note... so I sold my car last week, and am turning it over to its new owner on Wednesday. And guess what happens on Friday night? Some kid in an infiniti SUV rolls into the back of me! The extent of the damage is just some scuff that can probably cut polished out for a couple hundred bucks. But then this idiot was asking me if I could just buff it out with some wax. I already showed the people I'm selling it to, and they're cool with it since its completely repairable, but **** hey?

I don't really get the people that say just buff er out. Very rarely when 2 cars hit can it be just buffed out for a few hudred bucks. Everything these days is like 1k. IMO

I was reading last night at chapters in Euro tunners.

The 135 is a 12 seconds 1/4 mile out of the box, and it said that this car will be very tunnable.

I cant wait to drive this thing.

There is no way it does 12.9, not 12.anything. Not 13 flat even.

Factory it will do 13.4 to 13.2 I bet.

Maaaaaybe an incredible driver under incredible circumstances ie. perfect dragstrip at sealevel, perfect humidity level and ideal air temp. could do 13 or 12.9 but veeeery doubtful either way. I thought they aren't even coming with an LSD??
