Since we're all racing, the Jetta pulls 10's all day long on pump gas in Banff with a trunk full of groceries.

Yea in calgary a mid/high 13 sounds about right. Still pretty damn quick for what it is though.

No I didn't mean in Calgary, I mean the manufacturer specs.

I bet it does worse than that here.

Some details on the US Specs....

At a technical presentation this evening prior to the first drive of the new BMW 135i coupe, many details about the US-market version were confirmed. Enthusiasts have reason to rejoice, as most of the hardware and trim is being carried over from the European market. Here is a summary of what was confirmed tonight:

                        - Six-piston calipers will be standard on the 135i coupe. This decision was on-again, off-again for cost reasons, but the final answer is that they will indeed be on the car when it goes on sale early next year.

                        - Navigation will be a stand-alone option on both the 135i and the 128i. While it is typically bundled on other models as part of a Technology Package, it will be offered as a single option on these models to keep costs down.

                        - Interior leather colors will include black, beige, light grey, red and terra. Red and Terra will only be offered with the Premium Package. There will be no cloth offered at all in America; the base upholstery will be leatherette in black, light grey or beige.

                        - BMW will eventually offer a factory-replacement limited-slip differential under their performance products program recently announced. There are no plans to fit a limited-slip differential as a factory-fitted option.

                        - Pricing for the 1 Series will likely be announced at the Los Angeles auto show in mid-November, but the target price for the 135i is in the “mid-thirties” while the 128i in base form will come in under $30,000.

                          40K USD optioned

Still not bad, but really, M-Coupe is not out of reach, and I'm not sure which would be the better car. They are HEAVILY discounting M-coupes right now in the US. Brand new in the low 40's!

That being said the 1-series may actually be the quicker car especially with a software flash.

Comparison between 135, TT 3.2 and GTI from Auto Express, verdict:

If speed is your sole desire, then make a beeline for the BMW. Thanks to its twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre powerplant, the 135i is fast enough to wear an M badge – no doubt about it, the engine is a masterpiece. The trouble is, the rest of the car doesn’t manage to hit the same heights.

The coupé lines are not pretty enough, the interior design is lacklustre and, worst of all, the 135i isn’t as involving as either of its VW Group rivals.

While the Audi TT is slower and less practical, it emerges from this test as a more desirable car. It’s a work of art inside and out, and also great to drive. We’ll let you into a little secret, though – the 2.0-litre version is nearly as fast, and has even sweeter handling with much lower running costs.

The Golf GTI emerges ahead of the BMW chiefly because of its price advantage, but it never once felt out of its depth in this company.

I'm a bit surprised to hear that...BMW has crippled the rest of the car apparently...sad. With that powertrain it should rule the roost!

Style is subjective. Personally, I think the 135 is a very nice looking ride. It might not be as nice as the TT in stock form, but with an aggressive drop and some sick wheels, the 135 would deffinately turn heads. I think the 135 is much more appealing than the vw GTI.
